Hello to all Tingara Members
The Management Committee would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new and existing members for 2014. This newsletter contains lots of important pre-season information for all members.
Registration
Due to unprecedented demand, the Committee has unfortunately had to adopt early closure of registration periods for various age groups. The Tingara training facilities at Brentwood Primary School have limited capacity and your Committee has been forced to limit Club player numbers to work within these constraints. Accordingly:
• Registration has closed for applicants born in the following calendar years: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
• At the time of writing this newsletter, places are extremely limited for applicants born in the following calendar years: 2005 and 2006. It is anticipated that the registration period for these 3 age groups will close in the next day or so.
• It is currently anticipated that the registration for the 17s, 19s and senior grades will remain open until Tuesday 11 February 2014. However, please ensure that you register in a timely manner, as there is no guarantee that late registrations will be accepted.
For those who have not yet registered and your year group is still open, please note that we are again using the Sporting Pulse on-line registration system. The “Member Registration” page on the Club website contains a detailed explanation of the steps to follow in order to complete the on-line registration and payment of fees, as well as relevant training and playing information for the 2014 season.
For those who have not registered and your year is closed, we are disappointed that we cannot accommodate you. However, there are a lot of good netball clubs nearby that are seeking players, two of which are as follows:
• Breakers Netball Club (website is
http://breakersnetball.com.au), which is currently seeking players in all ages other than those born in calendar year 1999.
• Rossmoyne Netball Club (website is
http://www.rossmoyne.freeclubsites.com.au), which is currently seeking players in all ages.
To those members who have or intend to make a donation to the Club to cover the cost of new equipment etc, your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Deferral of Commencement of Training
Please note that, with the large registration numbers coming through, the commencement of training will now be deferred by 7 days to the week commencing 24 March 2014. Please refer to the summary of 2014 season dates below.
New Uniforms
There will be 2 uniform fitting days as follows:
• Saturday 8 February between 7:30am and 12:30pm at 20 Davenport Road, Booragoon
• Tuesday 11 February between 4.00pm and 6.00 pm, again at 20 Davenport Road, Booragoon
Please complete a uniform order form and bring it to the fitting. A uniform order form is available on the following link:
http://www.tingaranetball.com.au/uploads/5/7/3/2/5732329/uniforms_form_2014.pdf Please note that the Club does not keep a lot of stock, so you must place an order and pay by cheque on the day. Alternatively, you will have until the 14 February to arrange an EFT payment with our Uniforms Manager, Gill Ryan – ryangel@bigpond.net.au. No cash will be accepted. Uniforms will be supplied at training once received from our supplier.
2nd Hand Uniforms
If you have a ‘new style’ uniform that is in good condition which you wish the Club to sell on your behalf for $15 per top/ skirt second-hand, please:
• Wash the garments, place in a plastic bag with the size written on the outside of the bag – one bag per garment
• Place an envelope inside each bag with your name and contact details on the front of the envelope
• Drop the uniform in the box on the chair outside of 20 Davenport Rd, Booragoon, before 5pm on Friday 7 February
• Once your item/s sell, you will be contacted to collect your money
Coaching
Every season we turn to our wonderful members, and their families and friends, to take on very important volunteer coaching and manager roles for each of our teams. All of these volunteers are sincerely appreciated in supporting the Club and the players.
If you are interested in coaching a team for the 2014 season please contact ASAP:
Junior teams – Michele Burton
micheles@bigpond.comSenior teams – Ruth Hegney
hegney@ozemail.com.auManaging
Any parents of players who could volunteer a small amount of time through the season to assist the coach in managing their daughter’s team (eg keeping the team bag, allocating scorer/timer rosters etc.) would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to manage a team, please contact Sharon Bray on
sharon.bray8@bigpond.com or notify your daughter’s coach at the start of the training season.
New Sponsors for the 2014 Season

Other news
On 22 December, Tingara hosted a friendly twilight match between a team comprising of our 21&U playing members and a touring netball team from a Singaporean University – Temasek Polytechnic. It was a great game, and an all-round terrific evening. Following the game was a barbeque where both teams were able to mingle and be presented with small mementos of their visit. Our Tingara team won by a few goals, but the result was lost in the goodwill and fun following the game. Congratulations to Hannah Thomas for winning MVP for the Tingara team. A big thank you to all the players, our wonderful umpires and the supporters whocame down to cheer Tingara on, as well as FNA for allowing us to use the Gibson Park facilities.
Congratulations to Zoe Fisher and Mellery King for being chosen in (respectively) the Coastals 18s and senior playing squads for this year. Good luck girls in your games in the State Netball League.
Good luck to all of our 1999 – 2002 players who commence Phase 3 trials for FNA rep teams over the next fortnight. It was great to see so many of you at the coaching session held this week for this group. A big thank you to Lori Patterson for helping to fine tune the skills of our budding juniors.
